In addition to offering jewelry for disorders and diseases, we also have jewelry for a cause. These causes are centered around social issues that many people feel strongly about, especially because of the recent events that have been depicted in the news. From the most recent shooting in Parkland, Florida at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School to the Cleveland Cavaliers player Kevin Love revealing his personal battle with mental health, our lives are filled with social issues that have touched us.
Whether you know someone personally who has been dealing with mental health or gun violence, showing your support and understanding of what’s going on in the world will make sure that you’re informed and can help to rectify the issue. While violence and mental health won’t be fixed overnight, by educating people and showing your support, we’ll take one step at a time to make sure that the issues are addressed and people can start to help each other.
Introducing Our Social Issues Awareness Necklaces
We decided to start offering jewelry for social issues because we wanted to bring awareness to problems that are going on in the world. It’s one thing to watch the news and feel removed from the situation, but it’s an entirely different one to know someone who has been involved in violence. The same can be said about hearing about someone like Kevin Love referring to having a panic attack in a recent article he wrote called Everyone Is Going Through Something or Chester Bennington, a much beloved musician, who recently took his own life. While you may not know Bennington or Love, you may know someone personally who has been dealing with their own mental health. To show your support for these different social issues, take the time to check out our necklaces and what each one means to help educate people about violence and mental health.
One of the hot topics on the news — as your probably already know — is gun violence. Our last horrific tragedy occurred on Valentine’s Day of 2018, at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where 17 people were killed. This event is just the latest in thousands of shootings, which has resulted in a March For Our Lives On Washington to help end gun violence. While protests and speaking out about gun violence can help to educate people who have never been touched by gun violence, it’s important that people also take the time to take action in their own lives. Gun violence is a topic that’s not going to be fixed overnight, but it can be discussed and your support can be shown for those whose lives have been touched by these tragedies.
Another hot topic at this moment is mental health. Perhaps it’s due to the dozens of musicians who have killed themselves because of depression, or maybe it’s the recent article written by Kevin Love about understanding that everyone is dealing with their own issues, but mental health is being brought more and more to light. Like gun violence, there’s not an easy answer for mental health. One in 25 adults have a serious mental illness and 25 million Americans tend to suffer from depression. Many people feel that depression is something that can be easily cured or that people who suffer from anxiety can just relax, but that’s not always the case. If you know someone who suffers from mental disorders no matter how big or small, you can show your support and your love with a necklace from AwareCauses.
